Hello, I’m Brad Misterek 👋

Background

It’s always hard to write these things. I’ve been a software professional, in one way or another for the last 25 years. I graduated in 2001 from the South Dakota School of Mines of Technology, and have been working in various jobs since then.

Currently, I’m in a DevOps/SRE type role, which is where a lot of my interests are.

Interests

(I’ll expand this in the future, but a few of my cufrrent focuses)

  • Cloud Architecture: Understanding how to build, deploy, and run systems in the cloud (AWS for now)
  • Kubernetese: Similar to cloud architecture, understanding how to build, deploy, and run systems in Kubernetes… also in the cloud.
  • DevOps Practices: How can we automate as much as possible?

Why This Blog?

I’m under no illusion that this is going to blow up and be an amazing source of information. My goald with thie blog are mostly:

  • Help myself learn, and reenforce what I’ve learned. I’m hoping writing it down will help me to deeply internalize the things that I learn and am interested in.
  • In my wildest dreams, I’d be absolutely thrilled if this helped someone else leran things. I have low expectations that anyone will ever find this blog, but it’d be amazing if I could help other folks out.
  • Hopefully help to connect with the broader community.

A Note about AI

I will 100% use AI to work on the format, creation, etc.. of this blog. I’m not really interested in spending my time to build and run a blog.

However, I will guarantee that 100% of the words are my words, not generated by AI. That will probably be obvious, but I figured it was good to explicity say it.
